Teen idol Justin Bieber has to hope the second time is a charm in the 2011 voting for the Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame… Nice to have Justin Bieber aboard…
The Canadian teenager Justin Bieber finished runnerup to fellow singing star Taylor Swift in last year’s inaugural fan voting to determine the latest inductee into the Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame. Voting is ongoing through Aug. 6 at gobowling.com.
Justin Bieber is up against another star-studded field of candidates including actor Jeff Bridges, singer/actress Miley Cyrus, singer Lady Gaga, former basketball star Michael Jordan, singers Nick and Joe Jonas, actress/model Kim Kardashian, actor Bill Murray, rapper Lil’ Wayne and entertainer Jimmy Fallon.
Voting for the Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame is a major part of National Bowling Week that begins Saturday across the nation. Organizers hope bowlers roll at least one million games on what they proclaim is World Record Day on Saturday, Aug. 6 which would top last year’s total of more than 900,000.
“World Record Day is a great way to get involved in an historic nationwide event, and it is also a terrific way to build your database, get more bowlers interested in league bowling and begin building your fall leagues,” the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America told bowling centers.
More than 4,000 centers, including all Strike Ten Entertainment centers, are taking part in World Record Day.
The tremendous level of support we have received – more than 4,000 bowling centers across the country opening their doors to fans who cast their HOF vote – speaks to the welcoming environment that can be found in bowling centers and the tremendous solidarity within our industry,” said BPAA Executive Director Steve Johnson.
”Each of these 2011 candidates has had a significant impact in helping to keep bowling as one of the nation’s most treasured pastimes,” said Keith Hamilton, chairman of the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. “If last year’s down-to-the-wire showdown between Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber is any indication of what to expect for 2011, we’ll be ready for a fierce battle to determine who is the next star to achieve bowling immortality.”
National Bowling Week will feature fun, games, parties and competition at participating centers nationwide. Interested participants can download a free coupon good for World Record Day at gobowling.com…
