Justin Bieber's new record Believe has scored the pop star
his first number one album in the U.K.
The 18 year old's much anticipated project fought off
competition from British singer Cheryl Cole's A Million Lights, which debuted
in second place, and an excited Bieber took to his Twitter.com account to thank
fans for their overwhelming support.
He wrote, "All the experts said WE wouldnt (sic) come
in at #1 in the UK...I have never had a #1 album there...but u all
BelieveD".
Rounding out the top contenders were Paloma Faith's Fall to
Grace in third, Our Version of Events by Emeli Sande at four and Amy MacDonald's
Life in a Beautiful Light in fifth.
In the U.K. singles chart, Payphone, featuring Maroon 5 and
Wiz Khalifa, stole the coveted first place slot from Cole's Call My Name, which
fell to number two.
In third is Whistle by Flo Rida, Stooshe's Black Heart
entered at four and Coldplay and Rihanna's Princess of China collaboration fell
one spot to number five.
