Justin Bieber Tops Elton John On Singles List

Justin Bieber overtakes Sir Elton John to have the highest-certified single in history but still gets booed at an awards ceremony.

Justin Bieber's Baby has become the highest-certified single in music history, overtaking Sir Elton John's tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales.

 

 

The teenage pop star's hit climbed above the double-sided Candle In The Wind/Something About The Way You Look Tonight after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) changed the way it measures gold and platinum success.

Internet streaming of songs has been included for the first time, with 100 streams being treated as equivalent to one download, meaning Baby has been certified as 12-times platinum.

The track has sold 3.9 million copies in America and been viewed more than 858 million times on music video website Vevo.

Sir Elton's 1997 hit sold more than 33 million copies worldwide but remains 11-times platinum because it has no streaming data.

Cary Sherman, chairman and CEO of the RIAA, said: "Including music streaming in gold and platinum awards marks the continued evolution of the industry's premier programme for recognising artistic achievement, and it reflects the wide spectrum of ways consumers enjoy music from their favourite bands."

Streaming on audio services Spotify, Muve Music, Rhapsody, Xbox Music, Slacker and MOG are also counted in addition to the video streaming services YouTube and Vevo.

Despite his latest accolade, BIeber was booed on stage at the Billboard Music Awards, where he won in two categories.

The Beauty And The Beat singer was accepting the milestone award when the crowd seemed to erupt in boos.

Looking confused, he said: "I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously, and all this other b******* should not be spoken of."

It was not clear what Bieber was referring to in his acceptance speech, but he has had a number of bad public relations moments of late, having lost his temper with the paparazzi in London and arrived late for a series of gigs.

Bieber beat a number of other artists, including Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift, for the award. He also took home top male artist.

Last Saturday Reinout Oerlemans had a meeting with Justin Bieber. The two were discussing the new TV show Dance or No Dance, Eyeworks told the AD (newspaper). The format of the show is an idea of the popular singer and offered on the television exhibition in Cannes by Eyeworks. 

 

Reinout Oerlemans: 'I told Justin that the format received positive reactions internationally. Of course he was pleased to hear that. In the near future I will be in talks with several channels in Holland and abroad to discuss the next steps.'

The producer met up with Justin before his concert in a sold out Gelredome. 'There was no other option than to have this meeting right before the concert. Sorry it got a bit late last Saturday because of that', the singer laughed.

Amsterdam - Justin Bieber showed up late in Gelredome last Saturday, because his meeting with Reinout Oerlemans earlier that day took more time than planned.

 

 

 

Justin and Reinout were having a meeting about the new television show Dance or no Dance that they will be making together, says the AD (newspaper).

This meeting however exceeded the scheduled time a bit, which was the reason that Justin was forced to let 32.000 hysterical Beliebers wait for an hour.

Dance or no Dance is an idea of the teenage heartthrob and will be produced by Eyeworks.

Naar het optreden van Bieber werd al maanden uitgekeken door de Nederlandse 'Beliebers'. Vanochtend al stelden ze zich op voor de poorten van Gelredome, ook al arriveerde de superster zelf pas even voor achten.

Aan de nieuwe, Nederlandse boyband Mainstreet was de grote eer de show te openenen. Toen het kwartet om acht uur de bühne betrad moet het zich megasterren hebben gewaand in het volgepakte stadion.

Hetzelfde enthousiasme konden de Bieber-fans opbrengen voor de opwarm-dj. Daarna was het echter wel nog even knarsentanden, want de Canadees zelf klom pas even na tienen het podium op. Te laat dus, maar het kon de pret niet drukken.

Een werkelijk oorverdovend gejuich, gegil en geschreeuw barstte los toen de 19-jarige aan grote, zilveren vleugels eindelijk het podium op zweefde. De supershow die volgde, vol dans, vuurwerk, lasers en danschoreografieën, paste zijn reputatie volkomen.

Justin zelf leek het bovendien uitstekend naar zijn zin te hebben in Gelredome. Hij lachte, danste, praatte wat nummers aan elkaar en hoewel zijn zang af en toe maar moeilijk opkon tegen het spectaculaire zaalgeluid was hij prima bij stem. Fans kregen zo wat ze wilden, wat ze verwachtten en waar ze op hoopten. Justin Bieber was in het land en dat hebben we geweten.

Generous Justin Bieber gives his pet hamster to a fan

A JUSTIN Bieber fan this week got her hands on the ultimate piece of pop memorabilia - the teen heartthrob's pet hamster.

The 18-year-old made the bizarre offering during an autograph session, following his performance at the Jingle Ball in Atlanta on Wednesday.

After posing for photos with screaming teenage girls, he singled one out and handed her a cage, containing his beloved pet PAC.

The whole thing was captured on camera by TMZ.com. In footage Justin can been heard telling her: "You gotta take care of PAC," and the girl replying: "I will take care of him."

It marks a sad end to the star's double act with PAC.

The pair have been inseparable since Justin adopted the hamster in October.

They've travelled on tour together and appeared in a string of pictures, published on Justin's Instagram account.

The singer even set up a Twitter account for his furry friend, attracting 5,000 followers.

Justin Bieber fights to run away with the girl of his dreams in the newly unveiled music video for his brand new single 'As Long As You Love Me'.

The 18 year-old singer teamed up with rapper Big Sean for the second official release from his recent album 'Believe', following the success of lead single'Boyfriend' earlier this year.

Justin is seen acting opposite Kill Bill star Michael Madsen in the video's lengthy opening, as Madsen portrays the overprotective father of Justin's potential love interest.

After being warned to stay away from her or face the consequences, Justin leaves his girl a note suggesting they run away and the two later escape in a car, in between flashbacks to earlier points in their relationship.

The 'As Long As You Love Me' video features an emotional climax as Justin is seen gaining more and more mysterious cuts and bruises, before it is revealed he sustained them in a severe beating from the Reservoir Dogs actor, after the young lovers were confronted on the road.

US rapper Big Sean also appears in the heavily hyped promo to perform his rap during the middle eight section of Justin's latest release.

BURLY Brain McFadden put his experience as a bouncer to good use when he tackled a crazed female fan who tried to grab pop idol Justin Bieber.

The former Westlife singer, 32, was on the judging panel of Australia’s Got Talent when the 18-year-old heart-throb was accosted as he performed.

Despite extra security lined-up to protect Bieber, super excited Amelia Radevaska, 14, managed to make her way onto the stage and pounce on him.

She was then seen kicking and screaming at McFadden — who once worked as a security man at McDonalds on Dublin’s O’Connell Street — to let her go after he grabbed her.

Amelia was heard screaming: “Stop it Brian, stop it” as he restrained her but said after the incident: “Justin told me he loved me and it was all right just before I was dragged away.”

Bieber defender Brian later tweeted how his two daughters, Molly, ten, and nine-year-old Lilly-Sue would be delighted with the two signed CDs he got for them from the Canadian singer.

He said: “I’m going to have two very excited young girls when I get back home in a few weeks time.”

Meanwhile, Brian is gearing up to wed his reality TV star fiancee Vogue Williams, 25, in Florence, Italy, on September 2. They plan to remain in Oz after their wedding and honeymoon.

JUSTIN Bieber looks ready for battle - taking to the stage at the Teen Choice Awards covered in metallic armour.

The young star wowed the crowds with a performance of his new track As Long As You Love Me during yesterday's ceremony, which saw him pick up a massive FOUR gongs.

The star took the prizes for Choice Male Artist, Choice Male Music Star of the Summer, and Choice Male Fashion Icon, while Boyfriend was named the Choice Single by a Male Artist.

As he collected his Male Artist gong he thanked his fans before telling how he hoped new album Believe was "everything that you guys waited for."

And he went on: "I hope you guys are playing it over and over again, and this is just a reminder to everybody in here: Believe. Thank you."

And he looked pleased as punch as he cuddled with girlfriend Selena Gomez as they sat in the audience, with Justin ditching the metal get-up in favour of a khaki shirt and white trousers.

And Selena, who turned 22 yesterday, looked pretty in a hot pink dress and white sandals.

It was a real night of celebration for the couple as Selena's band, Selena Gomez & The Scene, were awarded the Choice Music Group prize.

But the young star looked embarrassed when she was suddenly presented with a birthday cake as she collected her award.

And her face only got redder when the entire crowd started to sing Happy Birthday to her - including her celeb pal Taylor Swift.

The pop star covered her face in her hands as the crowd belted out the track.

Justin stepped out in a metallic themed waistcoat and trousers, along with bronze armour plating down his left arm, while backed by a group of dancers to kick off his 'Boyfriend' performance.

The Canadian pop singer was then joined by collaborator Big Sean for his song 'As Long As You Love Me', after being raised up above the crowd on a platform.

Justin Bieber Performs Country Version Of 'Boyfriend' In Cafe – Video

The Canadian star can be seen changing the rhythm and the sound of his smash hit single for the impromptu rendition.

Justin Bieber has released video footage of himself performing an acoustic country rendition of his hit single 'Boyfriend'.

The 'Never Say never' singer can be seen sat in a café with a guitarist as he alters his voice and rhythm of the song to adopt the country genre.

The Canadian even lets out a huge "yee-haw" much to the amusement of his entourage during the impromptu performance.

Justin is currently in New Zealand alongside his girlfriend Selena Gomez and the two even visited a children's hospital in Auckland earlier this week to surprise patients.

The singer has also promised that he will be making a "big announcement" this weekend as he continues his 'Believe' promotional tour around Australia and New Zealand.

Justin Bieber appears on the cover of Rolling Stone for the second time in the issue that hits newsstands this Friday, July 20th. The cover story, written by Josh Eells, shadows the teen sensation for a week as he battles paparazzi at a Los Angeles golf course, appears on the The Tonight Show, hits the studio and much more.  Bieber is only 18, but he says he feels like he's become significantly more mature over the last couple of years. "I feel like I carry myself in a more manly way," he says. "I don't carry myself as a boy."

Some highlights from the story:

• Midway through a golf game at a private country club, Bieber and his entourage are confronted by paparazzi. Bieber responds by taking out his nine-iron and hitting a golf ball at them. He later tells an employee at the club that "we'll probably never play here again."

• His manager Scooter Braun addresses concerns that Bieber's relationship with Selena Gomez will lessen his appeal with tween fans. "Personally, I think that's all a bunch of bullshit," Braun says. "Yes, there's gonna be some girls that if they see him with a girlfriend, it kills the dream – but there's also gonna be girls that see him with a girlfriend, hear about the romantic things he does and want him even more."

Justin Bieber: 'I'm An Attentive Boyfriend'

Justin Bieber says he is an attentive boyfriend who is always complimentary to his girlfriend Selena Gomez, making sure to do the 'little things' women appreciate.

Teen heart throb Justin Bieber has told fans he is a loving and caring boyfriend, who never takes anything about his girlfriend Selena Gomez for granted.

The 18 year-old's single 'Boyfriend' promises:

"If I was your boyfriend/ I'd never let you go/ Keep you on my arm girl/ You'd never be alone/ I can be a gentleman/ Anything you want".

And he's staying true to his word!

According to Contactmusic, Bieber thinks it's important to notice any small changes his girlfriend makes to her appearance and always tries to pay her compliments.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: ''I make sure to do the little things, like noticing when they get their hair done or when they change their nail color.

Also saying things all the time - like, 'You're very pretty,' 'You're gorgeous,' things like that.''

In the interview, Justin's manager Scooter Braun dismissed speculation that the 'Baby' hitmaker's high-profile relationship is damaging to his career, insisting it makes him more desirable to fans as they get to hear about his romantic side.

He said: ''Personally, I think that [speculation] is all a bunch of bulls**t. Yes, there's gonna be some girls that if they see him with a girlfriend, it kills the dream - but there's also gonna be girls that see him with a girlfriend, hear about the romantic things he does and want him even more.''

The teen sensation also told Rolling Stone that he believes it's right to wait until you're in love before having sex with someone.

Justin and Selena were pictured making a visit to sick children today (19th July), holding hands as they left the Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.

Shortly before his visit, Justin tweeted: ''Do something nice for someone else today. ''U know your truth...do it for the right reasons. (sic)''

Bieber fever is worse than measles, according to actual science

Bieber fever is more infectious than measles, a new study suggests.

The study found that the hysteria over singer Justin Bieber has the ability to spread effortlessly to children all over the world, with no signs of stopping.

The work was conducted by University of Ottawa masters student Valerie Tweedle and her professor, Robert J. Smith? (he added the question mark to separate himself from all the other Bob Smiths out there). Tweedle and the questionable (heh) professor used formulas to predict the spread of diseases and found that Bieber fever is the most contagious modern disease.

Symptoms of Bieber fever include uncontrollable crying and/or screaming, excessive purchasing of memorabilia, distraction from everyday life and making poor life choices, like copying Bieber’s famous side-swept hairstyle.

The researchers say that the disease has to ability to infect and re-infect a generation of children — and that it won’t stop any time soon.

Tweedle and Smith? say that the only predictable end to the Fever would be the Lindsay Lohan effect, or sustained negative publicity.

“Through constant exposure, Bieber fever has incubated and spread. Millions are already infected, with more at risk every day. Action is urgently needed,” the authors say.

Despite the overdramatics, the authors say they recognize that Bieber fever isn’t an actual disease.

“Obviously it’s not formally a disease, but it has the hallmarks of a disease,” Smith? says about The Fever. “And so it behaves the way a disease would.”

During a recent trip to a friend’s elementary school classroom, Smith? found that all but one of the nine-year-old students liked Bieber. Similarly, while on a trip to Senegal to teach students from all over Africa, he found that all students knew Bieber there as well.

“We do all have this common language now,” Smith? says. “We all speak Bieber.”

Justin Bieber pulled over for 'reckless' driving

The pop star got a ticket today.

Justin Bieber was zooming around in his silver Fisker Karma sports car (X17 has photos of the incident) when he was stopped and cited for driving in a "reckless manner" on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles this morning, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson tells the Los Angeles Times.

Bieber was pulled over because he was weaving in and out of traffic, going more than 65 mph, said CHP Officer Ming Hsu, who could not give the star's precise speed. TMZ says he was going 80 mph.

KABC reports that Bieber said he was trying to lose paparazzi, who were on his tail. Officers confirmed to KABC that one vehicle was chasing another, and police stopped the lead vehicle, which was Bieber's.

Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, tells TMZ that the photogs didn't give up after the ticketing, and Bieber wound up calling 911. Police caught up with Bieber and the photogs and told them to back off.

Justin Bieber - Justin Bieber Officially Graduates High School

Justin Bieber is an official high school graduate.

The 18 year old earned his diploma from St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in his native Stratford, Ontario among the Class of 2012, which was announced at the school's commencement last week (28Jun12).

The pop star did not attend the graduating celebration, which appears to be his last link to education as he has no plans to attend university.

During a recent appearance on America's The Late Show With David Letterman, he told the host, "I can't say I'm never gonna, like, go to college but at this point I'm not, like, planning on it."
